A massive fire broke out in a slum at Lalmati, opposite Bandra Fire Station on Nagardas Road in Mumbai Tuesday. According to reports, it was a level-three fire. There have been no reports of casualty so far and rescue operations are underway.

The incident took place around 11.50 am in Nargis Dutt Nagar slum in Bandra (West), PTI quoted a statement of the disaster management cell of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Local MLA and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shellar was overseeing the rescue efforts.

He said that prima facie the fire was a result of a cylinder blast in the slum.
